I feel like a somewhat disregarded aspect of modern internet callout culture is the impact on people with anxiety or paranoia or intrusive thoughts and how the general sentiment of "bad things will only happen to you if you're bad, so just be good all the time" just exacerbates obsessive self flagellation

For once I'm actually happy about one of my posts blowing up because I so rarely see discussions about OCD and OCD-flavored anxiety and paranoia as they relate to social media, which leads to things like posts with major OCD triggers blowing up like crazy ("if you don't rb this I don't trust you" type shit). Every so often posts go around with good information but that are worded in an extremely triggering way meant to guilt trip you into sharing it and it makes me really sad because you could've just left that off!!

I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

This is a study done by the Speedwagon Foundation. By signing the consent form, you agree to be put in consecutive bracket fights in order to get the best understanding of your abilities.

1. There must only be one of you, no study subjects can be in pairs. I will, however, take exceptions if, for some reason, you two cannot be separate. [Message me on either this, or my personal blog, and please explain why! - Orfisheus]
2. You must submit yourself, you cannot submit your peers. Be fair, people.
3. Your history is a required topic. Given the nature of fate and stands, darker subjects are natural. However, please leave triggering topics (i.e. bigotry, sexual violence) out, or vague. My fellow researchers will be reading my eventual report, so please keep that in mind.
4. Combat experience or power is irrelevant, I will ensure you all have equal footing.
5. If you are a relative of any well-known stand users or figures from our history, you are still welcome to the study. If I find out, though, that Joseph has had another child out-of-wedlock... You will be permitted. He, however, will have some consequences.

Submissions into the study will close by July 12th. Voting will occur for a week each time. There may be occasional delays in results. I am a very busy man, after all.

Additional Notes:

• Propaganda is welcome from all. Including, but not limited to, artwork, writing, and personal playlists, if you're into making those.

tumblr blackout proposal

tumblr mobile has steadily become near unusable these past few updates. not just from a user experience perspective (which is important enough in itself) but also from an accessibility perspective.

examples include the new way the image viewer works (if you can call it "working"), the tumblr live button replacing the profile button, and that newly created blogs will be forced to have their main dashboard tab be the 'for you' page.

the demands of the protest would be along the lines of:

• reverse the recent image viewer update
• scrap the new users 'for you' page default setting
• let us turn off tumblr live indefinitely
• increase efforts against spam / porn bots
• make reporting abuse and hate speech as easy as reporting as reporting spam
• let us go nuts show nuts again... for real this time
• remove flashing ads, including not accepting blaze campaigns for posts with flashing in them
• commit to improving usability and accessibility, and listening to users!
• (suggestions welcome!)

to protest against these usability issues, and inspired by the recent reddit blackout, i propose a 48 hour blackout (where you don't use tumblr at all). preferably of both mobile and web (since web has problems too) but mobile is the focus here.

[edit: a 'blackout' is when you don't log in, or interact with the site at all, for [x] amount of time.]
